Both archaic and delicate, GAIA-24. Opera del Mondo calls us to sing and dance for Mother Earth with string quartet and electric guitar, folklore and techno, all while asking the question: What is war doing to nature?
How can we develop an awareness of our global togetherness through and across different music genres? After exploring nature’s reclamation of the former Chornobyl nuclear power plant in CHORNOBYLDORF, the Ukrainian composer duo Opera Aperta now presents GAIA-24., focussing on the consequences of the demolition of the Kakhovka Dam during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, taking it as a starting point for a conversation about a global, cross-border understanding and awareness of Mother Earth through different styles of music.
