The Opera Dolmuş is the musical ‘taxi-bus’ of the Komische Oper Berlin. Packed full of our own musicians and singers, it presents custom-tailored opera programmes at a location near you, free of charge. Deliberately leaving the big stage behind, this small mobile ensemble wants to make its presentations accessible to everyone. The idea is to excite enthusiasm for music theatre right where people are living their lives. A poster on the wall, a notice in the community paper, and suddenly the local gathering spot is full of curious onlookers. It’s no wonder, since something very special is in store: a fifty-minute opera show that tells its stories with multiple languages and authentic cross-cultural references, thereby inviting everyone to come along and join the ride.
