DJ Ipek
DJ Ipek a.k.a. Ipek Ipekcioglu is an internationally successful DJ, producer, curator and queer activist living in Berlin/Istanbul.
With a strong socio-critical focus, Ipek deals with various topics such as women, gender, migration, racism and multiple discrimination in addition to DJing and producing. In all her work, the Turkish-born artist focusses on cultural and gender diversity and the opening of boundaries within various communities and the (electronic) music and club scene. She has founded several associations, is a member of the female:pressure network and is the patron of the »Courage - Schools against racism« campaign.
Among other things, Ipek curates the interdisciplinary festival #disPlaced - #rePlaced at Radialsystem, and organised her own stage »ImPort ExPort-Migration is our Right« at MyFest. Ipek also plays in several electro-acoustic bands.
Thanks to this special mix and her activism, Ipek was honoured by the Berlin city magazine Zitty as one of the capital's »most important cultural personalities«.
In 2018, she was awarded the »Lesbian* Visibility« prize by the Berlin Senate. In 2024, DJ Ipek was voted one of the 100 most important minds in Berlin culture by Tagesspiegel. Also in 2024, Ipek Ipekcioglu was honoured with the »Soul of Stonewall Award« for her activism and life's work within the queer immigrant community.
